Meaty Marinara

At least once every week or two, I want a hearty, meaty tomato sauce. I choose whether to serve this over a roasted spaghetti squash or zucchini/squash noodles. Either way, it's tasty and does the job!

My basic sauce-

(Serves 4)

1 tbs coconut or olive oil
1 lb grass fed beef (or ground turkey)
1 onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
Salt and pepper
1, 28oz can crushed tomatoes ( I normally use Muir Glen brand with basil)
2 tbs fresh or 1 tbs dried herbs of choice (oregano, thyme, basil, rosemary)
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
*optional-add in a tbs of tomato paste if you like a richer sauce

Sauté onion and garlic in your oil of choice
Add in beef or turkey, add in some salt and pepper, and brown
Add in tomatoes, herbs, and powders
Let simmer as long as possible

Serve over spaghetti squash or zucchini/squash noodles

*If I have the time, I will transfer this to a crock pot and add in a 1/2 cup of water or broth and cook on low for 4-6 hours to really enhance the flavors.

    1. No problem! The other site got a little out of control and it needed to go beyond Whole30. :)
